What Does Detox Mean?

Hello Everyone!

Are you feeling sluggish and unable to concentrate? Do you have skin problems, digestive problems and/or allergies? Detoxification sounds like just the ticket to relieve you out of this cycle. We are around toxins everyday. They are in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink. In order to lead a healthy lifestyle, one must detox every once in a while.

Detoxification is the removal of potentially toxic substances from the body. Detox is also known to be a treatment for alcohol and drug dependence but it is also a form of treatment for a not so healthy diet and environment. Detox can also be referred to a diet, herb supplements, and other methods of removing environmental and dietary toxins from the body.

Detox products can be in the form of supplements (using liquids, pills, or elixirs) and it also can be in the form of a diet change. This means that you change your diet to eliminate the most toxin filled foods to help your body through the healing process. You must avoid coffee, alcohol, red meat, cigarettes, refined sugars, and any food that has saturated fats.

In addition to removing these foods from your diet you can also take a natural detox digestive product. At ESSpa, we have just introduced a new line of detox products by Fushi. They are natural elixirs designed to help your body’s system get back to normal. Forget the marketing buzz around yogurt and go for elixirs that are new, natural, and improved.

According to the Fushi website, they have provided some tips to lead a healthy detox process:
• Drink fruit & vegetable juices daily to feed, restore and heal every cell of the body.
• Have at least one raw salad each day. Aim for a variety of colors in your fruit and vegetable choices.
• Avoid heavy “stodgy” foods while detoxing like pasta dishes and breads. Try light salads and soups instead.
• Eat plenty of high fiber foods to pull toxins to the bowel, including fruit, veg, nuts and seeds.
• Avoid caffeine and alcohol while detoxing. These will slow down the process.
• Try herbal teas instead. The body is made up of 70% water. Drink 2 liters of it daily… filtered preferably. (http://www.fushi.co.uk/Detox_687.aspx)

  1. nice page. . .I like cruising the detox literature and lay presentations. We all demonstrate difficulty identifying how to objectively demonstrate that our client has been “detoxified”. 🙂
